Red Robin Seasoning recipe

Give yourself some time to make a tough decision
because there are nearly two dozen gourmet burgers
on the Red Robin menu to pick from, not to mention
scores of other fantastic food choices. Red Robin
claims its steak fries are world-famous, and when
you get a burger your fries are served up on the
side in a “bottomless” portion.

Want some more fries?

Just ask and you can have as many as your belly can
pack in. But we found out that the burgers and fries
have a very special secret ingredient in common that
makes them taste so good: It’s the Red Robin seasoning
that’s sprinkled on the food. Next time you make a burger,
sprinkle some our version of the seasoning blend over the
patty.

Cook up some frozen steak fries or french fries and
sprinkle a little of this blend over the top. You’ll all
sorts of uses for this versatile spice. And the recipe
makes a portion that should fit nicely in an empty spice bottle.

3 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon instant tomato soup mix
(Knorr tomato with basil works great)
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Combine the ingredients in a small bowl and stir well.
Store in a covered container.

Makes 1/3 cup.

  • I was searching for this recipe and was really surprised when the descriptive write-up (except for the formatting, of course) was EXACTLY like that of the version on the Top Secret Recipes site. Todd's comments were from 2005 and 2006, so his recipe was published first. I'd be much more inclined to follow you if I felt you were giving others' credit for their work and not simply plagiarizing their information. Ethical behavior is always rewarded in my book...

  • I'm addicted to this stuff! Pretty much all of the ingredients are staples in my pantry, so it's easy to whip up a batch when I need it. I usually quadruple it and keep it on the counter. I've found that Campbell's Tomato Cup-a-Soup works great, and it's quite a bit cheaper than the Knorr brand.

  • Try this instead--taco seasoning mixed with a little salt. It's surprising how much it tastes like Red Robin's french fry seasoning!

  • instead of purchasing all of the things to put in the seasoning salt, you could buy the seasoning salt for $3 at your local red robin.

  • AWESOME!
i didn't have tomato powder, so i used a little ketchup!
pretty close to the real thing, thx. i used it on sweet potato fries and family loved it.

    HOWEVER...
finally bought the knorr tomato powder today, but...when i added it to this recipe it became way too salty. so next time i use the knorr tomato powder, i'll drop the salt altogether.

maybe what made mine too salty was that since, i couldn't find the actual knorr tomato soup mix, i bought the knorr tomato bouillon? bet that's why, though i don't know the sodium content in the tomato soup mix.

either way, since tastes differ, i recommend this:
when mixing the ingredients, add the salt LAST--if you even need to.
taste your mix first. if it's salty enough for you, leave out the salt altogether!

    good luck!
    Mike
