2 2 1/2 cup milk
2 pears
2 apples
3/4 cup fine macaroon crumbs
1/2 cup flour
4 tablespoons melted butter
6 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
grated rind of 1/2 a lemon
Mix together melted butter, 4 tablespoons of the sugar, the egg, baking powder, lemon rind and the milk. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9″ baking pan (preferably glass). Peel and the pears and apples, then slice them finely. Alternate layers of apples and pears on top of the cake batter. Sprinkle with remaining sugar and macaroon crumbs. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream.
