Grandma’s Christmas Cookies

2 cups sour cream
1 1/2 cup melted lard (use Crisco if you can’t find lard)
6 eggs
1 teaspoon anise oil (not the flavoring)
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 pinches of salt
7 cups flour

To the melted shortening, add eggs, sugar, salt and anise oil. Add baking soda to sour cream. Add sour cream mixture to shortening mixture. Mix in flour. Dough will be soft. Chill in refrigerator overnight.

Roll out dough on cloth covered board using a cloth covered rolling pin. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Just until edges are browned. You may frost with butter icing and decorate.

Note: Dough is soft so covered board and rolling pin are necessary for this recipes success.
